Magazine Poster Analysis 1/3

This poster from Schoolboy Q is used to promote his Oxymoron album world tour. This advert could be found in many magazines such as Billboard and Vice. He has also featured on the front of the Billboard magazine and also reached number 1 in the top 200 albums in the Billboards charts. The font that has been used for the ,masthead which is Schoolboy Q's name is very unique as it isn't neat and spacious, it is almost like a signature which gives it a sense of individuality. Also, this is the font that is used on the front cover of the Oxymoron album. The fact that the size of the font is small shows his popularity as people will know it is Schoolboy Q as the picture used with the mask on is front cover of his album as it is also iconic to him. The amount of venues that have been used for this tour shows the popularity of the artist and also the album. By featuring in a magazine such as Billboard it will get his name out there more and gain further fans and people to maybe buy tickets to his tour. Also, he used social networking sites such as Twitter to promote his album which he has 1.4 million followers on which can be seen by all of them and to their followers if retweeted. I like the idea of using social media sites for promotion as it is free and can be seen worldwide by many potential fans and buyers of his Oxymoron album or tickets to his tour. The black background that has been used is effective I feel as it brings out the white bucket hat he is wearing and the mask that he has on. It also gives it a professional look to the poster and has been edited well. The white writing aswell on the black background makes it stand out and I like that and may use this idea when creating my magazine poster as I feel it brings a good look to the poster and makes the essential information stand out. The big picture at the bottom of the poster is also a good idea which I will also be taking into consideration.  The picture of Schoolboy Q gives it an intriguing look as you can't see his face which can be seen as mysterious and makes you think a lot about the artist which may have an influence on whether his fans could potentially purchase tickets to go and see him at the venues displayed in the poster.
